Diploblastic consists of :
- ectoderm (outer tissue layer) [ protective epidermis ]
- endoderm ( inner tissue layer) [ secretes digestive juices into internal cavity ]
Obelia sp. (Hydra)
e.g. Hydra, Obelia sp.
Segmentation : Unsegmented
Has tentacles : Long, hollow structure for
locomotion and food capturing
Cnidocyte, nematocyst or stinging cells in the tentacles
- Defense
- Capturing prey
Dimorphism/polymorphism (two basic body forms):
Both forms are diploid (Polyp & Medusa)
Polyp forms : -Tubular body, mouth directed upward
